About the Role

Cardiff and Vale College is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Rugby Development Lead to support the delivery of our high-performance rugby programme.

Working closely with the Head of Rugby, you will play a key role in developing student athletes and contributing to a performance-driven environment aligned to national standards. You will support squad preparation, coaching delivery and player development across both training and matchdays, helping to embed a player-centred culture both on and off the field.

  • Lead coaching for development squads, including matchday responsibilities
  • Support the development of players across Senior and Junior Academies
  • Deliver unit, core and position-specific coaching, particularly within backs play
  • Provide individual feedback and support player performance through 1:1 discussions
  • Contribute to performance analysis, including reviewing training and match footage
  • Promote and maintain a positive, player-centred culture
  • Ensure clear and consistent communication across players and coaching staff
  • Support achievement of agreed targets and performance indicators
  • Represent the College professionally and contribute to continuous improvement

About You

You will be a passionate and motivated coach with experience in player development and a strong understanding of performance sport environments.

You will also have:
  • A National Governing Body Coaching Qualification (Level 1 essential, Level 2 desirable)
  • Experience of coaching within a player development or performance environment
  • Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
  • The ability to motivate and support student athletes to reach their potential
  • A flexible approach, with availability for evenings and weekends

Further information regarding the role, the person specification and job competencies is contained in the attached job pack.

Applications are to be made using the Cardiff and Vale College application form only. The College welcomes applications in Welsh.
