What we are looking for in a Headteacher

We are looking for a Headteacher who:

• Provides clear educational vision and strategic leadership that secures high-quality provision and improved outcomes for all pupils.
• Has a strong track record of leading sustained school improvement, including the effective development and delivery of the School Development Plan.
• Uses robust self-evaluation and quality assurance processes to identify priorities, monitor progress and secure impact.
• Leads the development of a broad, balanced and engaging curriculum, ensuring high-quality teaching and improved learner progress.
• Demonstrates a secure understanding of Curriculum for Wales and wider educational reform, and leads change effectively.
• Promotes a culture of high expectations, inclusion and wellbeing, ensuring all learners are supported to achieve the best that they can.
• Demonstrates successful experience of whole-school leadership, including managing staff performance, developing teams and building leadership capacity.
• Has the ability to motivate, support and challenge staff, addressing underperformance and promoting continuous professional learning.
• Builds effective relationships with staff, governors, families and the wider community, promoting the school as a central part of the community.
• Works collaboratively with partners, including other schools and agencies, to support ongoing improvement.
• Demonstrates resilience, integrity and sound judgement, with the ability to make difficult decisions and communicate them effectively.
• Ensures effective management of resources, including staffing, finance and the learning environment, to secure value for money and improved outcomes.
• Takes responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all pupils and staff.
