Do you have a passion for supporting young people to thrive, achieve and reach their full potential?Cardiff and Vale College is seeking a Junior Apprentice Welfare Officer to join our Junior Apprenticeship team. Working with Key Stage 4 learners, you will play a vital role in supporting learner welfare, behaviour, attendance and engagement, helping to ensure that every learner is able to succeed in a safe and supportive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and compassionate individual who enjoys working with young people and building positive relationships with parents, schools and external agencies.
What You'll Do
You will take a lead role in coordinating and supporting the welfare, safeguarding, attendance and positive engagement of learners enrolled on the Junior Apprenticeship programme. Working closely with learners, parents/carers, schools, local authorities and College colleagues, you will help ensure learners receive the support they need to achieve their goals.
You will coordinate learner support plans, monitor attendance and wellbeing, contribute to safeguarding processes and act as a key point of contact for stakeholders involved in each learner's educational journey.
About You
We are looking for a confident and highly organised individual with excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
You will have experience working with learners who may require additional support and be able to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities and responding effectively to challenging situations when they arise.
Experience of working with vulnerable or at-risk learners, together with strong administrative and IT skills, will help you succeed in this rewarding role. A Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) qualification, or a similar safeguarding qualification is required.

Additional Information
This position is offered on a fixed-term basis in line with the current funding arrangements for the programme. Ending in February 2027.
