Ready to combine high-level cooking with a balanced, supportive academic environment that offers genuine work-life balance. Coleg Cambria is seeking a creative Sous Chef to craft seasonal, contemporary menus across our restaurant and patisserie.
As our new Sous Chef, you will spend your days running live service in our new restaurant and patisserie, bringing seasonal, modern menus to life, and stepping up to lead the kitchen alongside the Head Chef.

What You Will Do
- Drive Culinary Excellence: Support the Head Chef in delivering high-quality, contemporary menus across our restaurant, patisserie, and commercial hospitality events.
- Manage & Deputise: Act as duty manager and step in for the Head Chef when required, overseeing daily kitchen operations and resources.
- Inspire Future Chefs: Mentor hospitality students and apprentices, working alongside academic staff to continuously elevate kitchen standards.
- Commercial Operations: Assist with menu costing, stock control, food purchasing budgets, and monthly profit and loss accounts.
- Champion Sustainability: Lead best practices in sustainable purchasing, recycling, and food waste reduction.
Essential Requirements
- Level 3 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent).
- Level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene qualification (or willingness to achieve on appointment).
- Worked in excellent 3 or 4 star establishments.
- At least 3 years previous experience of working in a kitchen environment at a similar level.
- Impeccable food, hygiene and housekeeping standards.
