The Headteacher and Governing Body of Birchgrove Primary School wish to appoint a permanent Deputy Headteacher to start as soon as possible.

OVERVIEW
Following the promotion to Headteacher of the current Deputy Headteacher, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the Governors to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated aspiring Headteacher, with proven leadership skills, to work closely with the Headteacher. As a successful Learning Organisation, the right candidate for this deputy headship will need to demonstrate experience teaching and leading at a whole school level with a proven track record of planning strategically, with the ability to motivate and inspire a varied team of teachers and support staff in new strategies to improve teaching and learning over the whole school.

You should:

• Support the Head in delivery of the school vision, for all learners

• Lead the school in the absence of the Headteacher and make management decisions

• Drive school improvement through thorough self-evaluation processes, particularly in the curriculum

• Be an excellent classroom practitioner from whom others can learn, willing to take a leading role in the development of teaching, learning and assessment across the school;

• Have demonstrable management, leadership and ICT skills;

• Work closely with Phase and AOLE Leaders to enrich and improve curriculum planning across all areas and year groups

• Have excellent communication, inter-personal and organisational skills

• Show enthusiasm for working in partnership with children, staff, Governors, parents and the local community;

• Aspire to be a Headteacher yourself

THE RIGHT CANDIDATE WILL

• Have a genuine interest in education and the curriculum and a drive to bring continuous improvement

• Have a full understanding of the Schools as Learning Organisation model

• Have a full understanding of the processes involving developing a culture of enquiry

• Have a full understanding of processes involving children in care, child protection and safeguarding and be committed to working in partnership

• Have an innovative and creative approach

• Have excellent understanding of ALN

• Have excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills
