Human Resources Administrator(Within the Department of Human Resources & Payroll)
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in Human Resources within a busy, people-focused environment. Working closely with the HR and Payroll teams, you will provide day-to-day administrative support across a wide range of HR and Payroll activities and play an important role in ensuring employees have a positive experience throughout their employment journey.
The role is varied and hands-on, covering HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, payroll coordination and employee relations support. You will have the opportunity to develop your HR knowledge, work closely with managers and employees at all levels, and make a meaningful contribution to the continued growth and success of the College.
Salary Details: BS 14-18 (BAR) 19-21 - Currently £25,878 - £26,452 (BAR) £26,773 - £28,707 per annum
This is a 6-point extended scale with progression incrementally on an annual basis. Please note, progression beyond the bar is dependent on an internal
set of conditions. Commencing salaries will be assessed in accordance with the College's starting salaries matrix.
Contract Type: Salaried - Permanent
Hours of Work: Full-time (37 hours per week)
Holiday Entitlement: 28 days pro rata (increasing to 32 days for 5 years plus service) plus 8 Bank Holidays & College closure days per annum
Qualifications: Hold a relevant minimum level 3 qualification. It is highly desirable to hold a Human Resources related qualification, though not essential.
About the Role
Reporting to the Senior HR Officer, you will provide highly confidential administrative support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruitment and selection, onboarding, contractual changes, employee record management and employee engagement activities. Acting as a first point of contact for HR enquiries, you will deliver a professional, efficient and customer-focused service to staff, managers and applicants alike.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting recruitment and selection activities, including arranging interviews and preparing recruitment documentation.
- Coordinating onboarding processes and pre-employment checks for new staff.
- Maintaining accurate employee records and HR systems in line with GDPR and audit requirements.
- Managing HR enquiries and supporting the HR shared inbox.
- Assisting with payroll administration, pensions and employee lifecycle changes.
- Organising meetings and taking confidential minutes.
- Supporting employee engagement activities and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the department

- Experience working in a busy office or administrative environment.
- Advanced administrative and IT skills, including recent experience of Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and Word.
