Teacher - Nantymoel Primary School (Maternity Cover)

Bridgend County Borough Council

Salary: Teachers Pay Scale

Temporary

Maternity Cover up to 12 months or until the post holder returns; whichever is earlier.

The Governors of Nantymoel Primary School wish to appoint a highly motivated, creative and inspiring teacher to join our friendly, caring and professional team, covering maternity leave in our reception class.

We are looking for an excellent practitioner who understands how young children learn and is committed to building on their early experiences, supporting their continued development and progress. The successful candidate will create inspiring learning experiences that nurture curiosity, independence, creativity and a sense of belonging.

Our Froebelian approach and trauma-informed ethos are embedded across our school. We value play, warm and trusting relationships, connections with nature and purposeful learning through meaningful, practical experiences. Our learning environments encourage children to explore, investigate and work together, supported by adults who recognise and respond sensitively to their individual needs.

At the heart of our inclusive school are kindness, respect and the belief that every child should feel valued, understood and able to succeed. We are seeking a teacher who shares these values and will actively uphold our ethos, working with children, families and colleagues to ensure every learner feels a strong sense of belonging within our Nantymoel family.

The successful candidate will:

Demonstrate excellent classroom practice and a strong understanding of child development and the Curriculum for Wales.

Be enthusiastic about Froebelian principles, including child-led exploration, open-ended resources and the role of the adult in supporting and extending learning.

Understand the importance of a trauma-informed approach, recognising that emotional safety, connection and regulation underpin children's readiness to learn.

Create calm, welcoming and inclusive learning environments where every child feels safe, valued and supported.

Maintain high expectations for all learners, using observation and assessment to provide appropriate support and challenge.

Be reflective, creative and willing to develop their practice alongside a supportive and committed team.

Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues, demonstrating a commitment to the values and ethos of our inclusive school.

We welcome applications from teachers who share our vision and are keen to contribute to our continuing development of nurturing environments and rich

learning experiences for all children. Please outline your relevant experience, strengths and interests within your application.

If you are passionate about teaching in the Early Years and would like to make a difference as part of our Nantymoel family, we would be delighted to receive your application.

Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees.

It is desirable that you will be able to converse and respond to correspondence with confidence and ease in Welsh.

An Enhanced with Childrens Barred list criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post.
