Adult Learning Wales has a fantastic opportunity for an individual to work in partnership with our tutor at our Port Talbot Learning Hub supporting learners as a Learner Support Assistant and join a pan-Wales organisation committed to serving the adult population of Wales with inspirational, life changing opportunities.

The Learner Support Assistant is a key role in our learners’ journey whilst they undertake a course with us. You will be supporting our learners within the Creative Arts and Construction curriculum provision, which includes our ‘School Link’ provision for 14 to 16 year olds, which is the group of learners this role will be supporting.

This is a hands on role where you will be working under the direction of the course tutor or the Learner Services Manager.

You will have responsibility for (but not exhaustive to):
 Supporting and assisting learners with specific additional learning needs in accordance with the learners’ needs and Adult Learning Wales Policies and Procedures
 Establishing constructive and effective working relationships with learners and to interact with them according to their individual needs, and to help build their confidence and enhance self-esteem
 Assisting a learner(s) throughout the lesson, including break-time supervision and support
 Supporting learner(s) in various practical activities in accordance with course subject assessment criteria
 Implementing planned learning activities / teaching programmes as agreed with the tutors adjusting activities according to learner(s) responses as appropriate
JOB REQUIREMENTS
We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communications skills, who has experience working with learners with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disability including those with challenging behavior. We are looking for someone who is patient, adaptable, creative and able to motivate non-traditional learners

Qualifications
Essential – Level 3 standard of education, Level 2 Learning Support Assistant or equivalent, or willing to work towards.
