The Library Service is looking for an enthusiastic person with excellent customer care skills and a can-do attitude to work in a busy and sometimes demanding learning environment.

The successful candidate will place learners at the centre of all their work supporting learners with a wide range of needs and abilities.

They will have the ability to:


• Proactively liaise with teaching staff to understand the needs of learners;
• Create and deliver information skills sessions to meet those needs;
• Support learners on a one-to-one and classroom basis;
• Promote library services and resources in innovative and effective ways to teaching staff and learners;
• Supervise and enthuse the activities of the team based at Gorseinon Library. A good team-working ethic is essential.

They will have the ability to encourage collaborative learning styles as well as actively ensuring that learners also have a quiet place to study.

An active interest in digital technologies and new developments in technologies and learning is encouraged. An ability to communicate and enthuse learners to use certain digital platforms and online learning is also welcome.

A detailed knowledge of stock and learner needs is expected to develop in time. Similarly, a concern for the physical environment of the library is also a necessity in order to ensure that the learner experience is maximised.

Any experience of improving accessibility to ensure all learners are able to benefit from our services would be particularly welcome.

A degree or Level 5 qualification is essential as is experience of teaching or instructing in a classroom environment. A Library qualification at this level is desirable but not essential.

The ability to drive and travel between campuses is an essential requirement as is the ability to work an evening as part of a rota.
