Teaching Assistant Level 2

Basis: Fixed Term Contract, 30 hours per week, Term Time Only

NJC Grade 4, SCP 5 - 6

Fixed term ending 5th April 2024, in the first instance, with extension subject to funding.

Start date: 1st September 2023 (pending pre-employment and safeguarding checks)

The Governing Body of Gilfach Fargoed Primary and Park Primary Schools Federation is looking to employ two enthusiastic, committed and hard-working Level 2 Teaching Assistants with the aim that one post holder will work, mainly, in our junior classes and one post holder will work, mainly, within the current Reception, Y1 or Y2 classes at Gilfach Fargoed Primary.

  • The Governing Body is seeking to appoint dynamic Level 2 Teaching Assistants to support learning in the school. Candidates will be required to have NVQ Level 2 in Childcare and Education or equivalent, to support learning in the school.
  • The Teaching Assistants will be required to work under the guidance of, and with the supervision of the Teaching and Senior Staff to implement agreed programmes of work.
  • The postholder will be expected to support class teachers with assessment procedures and behaviour management.
  • There will be a focus on working as a member of our strong school team, encouraging positive behaviour in our children and assisting them in achieving high standards.
  • There will be a requirement to understand and have prior experience of working with junior aged children.
  • The post-holder will need to carry out a range of literacy and numeracy interventions with groups of pupils, so experience of delivering intervention programmes would be desirable.
  • The postholder may be expected to lead a Read, Write, Inc group and ensure resources are readied and work marked to a high standard.
  • The post holder will be expected to have good skills in ICT, literacy and maths.
  • An ability to be well-organised and work efficiently is essential.
  • An enthusiasm and willingness to support in after-school activities is also encouraged.
