An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Work Placement Officer within the Careers department at Cardiff and Vale College. This role will be based across sites.
Responsibilities include:
- To liaise with Heads of Departments and Course Tutors to ascertain the learners' work experience needs and opportunities based on the Learning Area Programmes (LAP) and establish a work experience schedule.
- Ensure that learners work experience needs are linked to their future progression with relevant placements in organisations.
- Work with other agencies to ensure best practice for work experience opportunities e.g. local careers companies, JCP, Princes Trust and other providers, and network to be fully informed on all employability agendas.
- Engage with employers to promote CAVC and develop sustainable working partnerships which generate meaningful work experience opportunities for learners.
- To ensure that a formal agreement exists between the work experience provider and the College.
- To monitor and assess the suitability of work placements and their overall success of the work experience programme, make adjustments where necessary and feedback to the Careers Team Leader in a timely manner.
- Welsh language skills would be desirable for this role.
