Our college values the importance and significance of building the oracy skills of our learners. With oracy being a crucial part of our GCSE English Language course, we are seeking experienced English lecturers who have key knowledge of the Unit 1 Oracy component.

You will co-ordinate, assess and mark learner’s discussion and presentation elements which form part the GCSE English Language qualification. You will liaise with the English Team, course teams and learners to make appointments with learners to conduct their discussion or presentation. You will be expected to assess and grade the learners work and record this on a central tracker.

You will be required to work between October 2023 and February 2024 to carry out the role and expected to work on different campuses during the week to ensure the assessments are completed. Travel expenses can be claimed by the successful candidate.

If you are an experienced English teacher, or someone looking for part-time work, we are keen to hear from you. You should be a qualified teacher and have experience in teaching GCSE English Language and have innovative strategies to engage learners to fulfil their full potential. Experience of assessing GCSE English Unit 1 Oracy is essential.

Very good organisational and communication skills are important to this role, with the ability to meet deadlines and build good relationships with colleagues and learners.

An understanding of assessment for learning and internal moderation quality is also essential.
