Digital Inclusion Officer

Neath Port Talbot Council
Contract Type: Fixed Term post until 31/03/2025 due to funding

Hours: 30 hours x 3 posts

Location of post: Adult Community Learning, Tirmorfa Centre, Marine Drive, Port Talbot. SA12 7NN

We are currently looking for Learning Engagement and Support Officers to join our team.

The post holder will work closely with local community groups and individuals to build relationships with organisations that support Digital Inclusion

You will provide key support for all aspects of programme development and capacity building initiatives, including delivering digital inclusion sessions and promotion of the service.

You will provide a flexible, high-quality service, working in partnership with Adult Community Learning, and will be expected to work as part of an integrated team with the Digital Inclusion Ambassador.

The main duties of the post;

  • To engage individuals and groups with learning opportunities in a range of community settings.
  • Identify existing active community groups within the area, establish strong partnerships and working relationships with those and work with other services.
  • To support and participate in the delivery of digital inclusion with the aim of engaging new participants with the service.
  • To support the promotion and co-ordination of Digital Inclusion across the Neath Port Talbot area, including remote areas.
  • To promote the support available through the programme to generate engagements and support marketing activities within the service.
  • To work/liaise with other agencies involved with digital inclusion to ensure the best possible service and resources are available to people when helping them with digital inclusion.
  • To keep accurate records, including written accounts about the Digital Inclusion you promote and provide.
  • Support and assist with paperwork, data entry, evidence collection and analysis for the service.
  • To have awareness of Adult Learning in the Community and it's priorities.
  • Act within procedures with regard to equal opportunities and equalities.
  • Undertake any other related and reasonable duties, commensurate with the salary grade and level of the post.
  • To undertake work with other team members in supporting learners to prepare for learning and employment.
  • To follow prescribed filing and data accuracy requirements to ensure the confidentiality of participant information and a robust audit trail for internal and external review.
  • To provide flexible support to the programme in the area and work occasional unsocial hours.
  • To carry out other tasks and responsibilities of a similar nature to those listed above as determined from time to time by the Manager in relation to the smooth running of the service.
        You will have experience in/of;
        • Experience of engaging hard to reach individuals and groups with multiple challenging needs.
        • The ability to confidently use digital devices.
        • Experience of assisting people with using digital devices.
        • Experience of inter-agency networking and working with volunteers.
        • Experience of using Microsoft Office Programmes and the internet.
        • Experience of managing databases and monitoring and recording procedures.
        • Experience of exposure to client groups that are more likely to be at risk at being digitally excluded.
        • Experience of working with clients who could experience data poverty and could face digital exclusion.
        • Experience of marketing and promotions.

        Ideally you will have;

        4 GCSE's grade A to C or above, including English Language and Mathematics, or a qualification of a comparable level (e.g. Intermediate GNVQ Level 3, BTEC First Certificate, NVQ Level 3) or equivalent
