Teacher of English - Milford Haven School

Pembrokeshire County Council
Job Description

The Governing Body wishes to appoint a temporary maternity cover Teacher of English to join our committed and hard-working department from December 2023.

We are seeking a fully qualified, innovative and creative teacher, with excellent subject knowledge, who can work effectively in our school. The successful candidate will be expected to teach English in KS3 and GCSE.

We are delighted to share the positive statements from our recent Estyn inspection and strengthen our English team. Estyn stated that "The school has refined and strengthened its wellbeing provision and this has had a positive impact on behaviour, attitudes to learning and attendance. This in turn has reinforced the schools high expectations of behaviour and attendance." We wish to build on this report and are seeking a competent teacher with high expectations that will support us in continuing our improvement journey. We are also proud that.. "in most lessons, pupils develop their skills and subject knowledge well."

We work hard to help grow caring, thoughtful and passionate pupils who are proud of themselves and the community they live in. We are so very pleased that ESTYN recognised this in their report, commenting specifically on, "The sense of a close and supportive community and team ethos are strong aspects of life at Milford Haven School," this is all thanks to the incredible hard work of our pupils, staff and wider school family.

Milford Haven is situated on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast in an area where housing is inexpensive and the quality of life is second to none. We are an 11-16 school with over 1090 pupils on roll and is continuing to increase in future years.

Closing date for applications: 17/10/2023
