Role Title: Lecturer in Agriculture

Location: Llysfasi

Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time (0.4 FTE, 14.8 hours per week)

Salary: £29,162 - £45,077 (Pro Rata) (Upper pay range points UP2 and UP3 are subject to evidence of previous progression to Upper Pay Spine)

Here at Coleg Cambria we are looking for a Lecturer in Agriculture to join our Landbased team. This particular role will be based at our Llysfasi site and requires a Welsh speaker.

As a Lecturer you w ill teach and inspire our learners in delivering a range of agricultural subjects including livestock husbandry, livestock production with sheep specialism and farm diversification. Our Llysfasi site is situated on a modern working farm, with the benefit of having access to the latest technology as well as working in beautiful surroundings.

You will perform scheduled teaching, prepare learning materials, mark students' work, and liaise with awarding bodies and exam invigilation as required. You will also provide educational guidance, support and counselling for all students whilst participating in the marketing, planning, assessment and evaluation of course provision.

You will also liaise with other tutors from other business areas with regard to resources, curriculum development, student reports and other related matters, whilst completing and producing the agreed deadlines documentation such as; registers, schemes of work, records of work, course review, course analysis documentation, student reports and absence reports.

With an awareness of the importance of quality standards within teaching, you will have knowledge of a broad range of learning needs and how to support these needs within a learning environment and demonstrate an understanding of current developments within your own specialist area. You should be open and responsive to the needs of others and be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and new ideas.

Essential Requirements
  • Qualified to at least Level 5 in Agriculture or a suitably relevant subject.
  • You will ideally be a qualified teacher and hold either a PGCE, Cert Ed or C&G 7407 or be willing to work towards one of these.
  • Experience in livestock production with sheep specialism
  • Able to communicate fluently (both written and verbal) through the medium of Welsh
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong team player, displaying energy and enthusiasm in the learning environment.
  • Proficient in Google applications and using the internet and intranet

Welsh language skills are essential for this position.
