Glan Llyn Primary School is an English-medium school and provides education for children aged between 3 years and 11 years. The school also has a 20-place Learning Resource Base to support pupils with additional learning needs from across Newport. The school opened in September 2019 on a growing school basis to support the growing Glan Llyn housing development and sits within the Lliswerry cluster of primary schools. We have a published admission number of 60 and a 48 place nursery and currently have 395 pupils on roll.

The successful candidates will be appointed to work with pupils in our Learning Resource Base classes but could also be required to work with children in any class across the school.

We are looking to appoint someone who has:

• Significant successful experience of working with pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
• Significant successful experience of working within a special school, PRU or Learning Resource Base.
• Experience of supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or within small groups to help them make good progress towards their individual targets.
• The ability to use specific strategies to support children with social and communication needs.
• Experience of managing behaviour in a calm, nurturing and firm manner.
• Successful experience of planning and leading a range of interventions.
• Experience of working with external agencies and undertaking relevant training in order to provide necessary support for pupils with communication, health, medical and physical needs. (Or a willingness to undertake training to support pupils with complex needs)
