Educational Support Officer

The role:

To provide support to students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in line with the Additional Learning Needs Educational Tribunal (ALNET) Act to ensure that the college vision and commitment to learner experience is delivered effectively through meeting targets in order to maximise benefits to learners and help them to achieve their full potential.
  • Fixed-term until 31st August 2024
  • £11.25 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • To participate in and support students with additional learning needs in the provision of educational programmes as instructed by the lecturers
  • To assist in the manual handling of students with personal care requirements in accordance with the individual care plan
  • To liaise with students, families/carers, local authorities and college staff to assess and monitor the implementation of the transition plans
  • To support / supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the Lecturer at meal times, at morning registration, end of the day and free periods
About you:
  • Maths and English GCSE A-C grade or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with students with additional learning needs
  • Good understanding of the complex needs and barriers to learning faced by learners with ALN
