Faculty Leader - Skills (Literacy Lead)

We are seeking to appoint an excellent teacher with passion, enthusiasm and commitment to lead on the new Advanced Skills Baccalaureate and Skills for Employment qualifications within a designated faculty. You will support teaching staff delivering the qualifications and deliver relevant CPD to ensure they deliver excellence in teaching and learning that will result in good outcomes. The successful candidate will also support staff with WEST and ensure they understand the importance of the tool in developing learner’s literacy, numeracy and digital skills.

The successful candidate will have recent and significant, successful experience of delivering the Skills Challenge Certificate at Level 3 and will have a passion for developing learners’ core Skills. As Faculty Leader: Skills, you will also co-ordinate and lead on quality improvement, ensuring moderation and internal verification is completed and meets awarding body standards. You will have a thorough understanding of quality assurance processes and will be expected to act as Principal Moderator for one of the three newly devised Projects within the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate; and coordinate the quality assurance process for the four Levels of the Skills for Employment qualification.

The post holder will also have a cross college lead in relation to literacy development. The successful candidate will support lecturers in embedding the integral skill into their schemes of learning, teaching practices, and delivering bespoke training packages for staff to support raising the integral skill standards. The individual will work with staff to implement the newly established skills marking guide.

The post will require you to take on and work with the college’s strategic plan; working with professionalism, taking responsibility for your actions, and giving respect to colleagues and learners alike. You will join the growing department of WBQ & Skills and will report directly to the WBQ & Skills Manager; The success of learner and the drive for continual improvement will be your key driver.
