Job description
Class Teacher required as soon as possible subject to satisfactory HR recruitment and Safeguarding checks
Teachers Main Pay Scale plus SEN point(s) dependent upon experience and expertise
Trinity Fields is a special school for pupils aged between 3 and 19 years, with severe and complex needs. The school provides highly specialist provision on the main school site in Ystrad Mynach, as well as in its 8 satellite classes that are based in mainstream schools. We serve the County Borough of Caerphilly as well as having some pupils from neighbouring authorities. Trinity Fields is highly regarded by parents/carers and professionals alike. There are currently 269 children on roll.
This is a very exciting time for the school as we continue to develop formal partnerships with the local authority and mainstream schools with specialist resource bases (SRBs) in order to improve the outcomes for pupils with ALN across the County Borough. This post could either be at the main site or at one of our satellite bases.
We are committed to providing a highly individualised and inclusive education to all our pupils, with an emphasis upon meeting their individual needs and developing their strengths and interests within a highly supportive and engaging learning environment.
We are a Rights Respecting School. We are firmly committed to the United Nations Conventions of the Rights of the Child. We are also a Healthy School (we hold the Welsh Network of Healthy School Schemes National Quality Award), an Inclusive School (we hold the IQM Flagship School status), an Investors in Families School (we hold the Investors in Families Diamond Award) and an ECO School (we hold the ECO Schools Platinum Award).
Estyn (June 2019) judged us to be EXCELLENT in all 5 inspection areas.
Pupils are looking to appoint a teacher who is:
Fair, friendly and can help them learn in lots of different ways;
Able to help them gain further accreditation for their learning;
Fun and will listen to and act upon their views;
A positive role model and tells them when they are doing well.
Governors are looking to appoint a teacher who is:
Experienced, highly committed and enthusiastic;
Able to work effectively with pupils with a wide range of learning needs;
Flexible, well organised and be able to confidently lead a class team, with a proven track record.
The teacher appointed will need to have a wide range of experience working with pupils with severe and/or complex learning needs within specialist settings. This is an essential requirement for this post.
As part of your role, the successful candidates will be expected to lead/support an area(s) of learning and experience (AoLE), as part of the Curriculum for Wales developments. Candidates should clearly note their areas of strength in their letter of application.
