Teacher Supporting Latecomers to the Welsh Language
FLUENCY IN SPOKEN AND WRITTEN WELSH IS AN ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT FOR THIS POST
Full time (MPS)
To start as soon as possible.
Temporary contract until August 31st 2025 in the first instance.
We will consider offering a secondment opportunity and can offer some flexibility in terms of working hours. Please contact us for a further discussion.
The Latecomers Support Service supports the authority's schools to develop the confidence and language skills of learners who transfer to Welsh-medium education. We support children by offering an intensive Welsh language immersion and outreach service in schools.
We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join the team. The successful candidate will play a key role in planning and leading the development of the provision for latecomers and language acquisition in the primary phase.
The successful candidate will:
- be creative and confident and fully committed to the development of Welsh-medium education.
- be responsible for developing an immersion program and supporting innovative and progressive language acquisition, which will use the pedagogy and philosophy of the Curriculum for Wales and the new oracy framework within the context of the themes of the plan.
- ensure that all learners, whatever their ability or background, are happy and successful in their learning.
- place the welfare and safety of our children above all else.
- plan and prepare stimulating and creative experiences carefully and in detail.
- display a positive attitude and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team using innovative working methods.
- communicate clearly and confidently with excellent Welsh skills.
- be aware of immersion techniques andeffective immersion pedagogy.
- be aware of the expectations of Welsh language standards in primary settings.
