Description
Principal Educational Psychologist
Salary band - B7 -10 plus SPA points
Are you driven to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people? Would you like to help shape an inclusive landscape by leading a high profile area within our service?
If so, then you might be well placed to join our dynamic and innovative Education Department. Wrexham has a well-established Inclusion and ALN service and our Educational Psychologists are a fundamental component of this.
Following the retirement of our current Principal Educational Psychologist and reporting to the Head of Service for Inclusion and ALN, you would help take our values led service onto the next step in our journey. As well as leading the hardworking, enthusiastic and supportive EPS team, working collaboratively with our two SEP's, and managing our Literacy, Language, and Behaviour Outreach Services, you would also work collaboratively across our Education Service to help shape policy and oversee key elements of our Inclusion and ALN strategy.
You will be responsible for developing cohesive links with health colleagues, as key partners, to develop our trauma informed and behavior support practice.
Taking the lead on ensuring that children and young people with identified ALN and their families are supported inclusively to achieve positive outcomes in their education and wider experiences. This will include working with partners across Health, Voluntary Sector as well as council services.
We are looking for a candidate who:
• Has an excellent reputation in the sector
• Has strong management and leadership experience
• Can think creatively and work strategically across the wider Inclusion and ALN systems
• Is a resilient practitioner.
This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about Person Centered approaches, works in a solution focused way, drawing on theories such as Positive Psychology and Social Constructionism and is excited to make a unique contribution to shape an inclusive landscape.
Wrexham Local Authority has adopted the principles of modern ways of working. We offer flexible working arrangements and a generous annual leave entitlement. The Local Authority is easily commutable to areas of the North West England and across North Wales.
The Council welcomes applications from suitably qualified candidates regardless of race, gender, disability, sexuality, religious belief or age
The Council is committed to developing its bilingual workforce and welcomes applications from candidates who demonstrate their capability to work in both English and Welsh. Applications submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favorably than an application submitted in English.
