Role Title: Work Based Learning Practitioner - Trees and Timber

Location: Deeside

Contract Type: Part time, Permanent (22.2 hours per week)

Salary: £30,908 - £34,832 (this is the full time salary, salary will be pro rata depending on working pattern)

We currently have a vacancy for a Work Based Learning Practitioner in Trees and Timber.

The Practitioner will assess against the full range of qualifications in Arboriculture, Trees and Timber. They will hold the qualifications listed below, and have recent industry experience of working at this level.

The successful candidate will work with a caseload of learners and conduct a Training needs analysis. They will enrol the learners on appropriate courses and provide coaching, mentoring and learning opportunities. The Practitioner will also deliver underpinning knowledge sessions to learners either on a 1-1 or workshop basis (recommended maximum group size 8)

The post holder will monitor learners' progress towards qualifications, give them constructive feedback and guide them to prepare an e-portfolio of evidence. Further to this they will assess learner portfolios and present completed portfolios for internal quality assurance.

Essential requirements
  • Be qualified at a minimum to level 3 or above in Arboriculture/ Trees and Timber
  • Be qualified in chainsaw maintenance & cross cutting, felling & processing up to 380
  • Be qualified to climb trees and perform aerial rescue
  • Be qualified in wood chipper
  • Be qualified or willing to work towards brushcutter, log splitter, and clearing saw.
  • Possess or be willing to work towards an assessors qualification (TAQA)
  • Possess or be willing to work towards a Quality Assurance qualification (Currently 401 TAQA Unit).
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualifications (or equivalent) at Grade 4 (C) or above
  • Possess or be willing to work towards a Digital Literacy Level 2 qualification
  • Experience of liaising and partnering with external managers in industry
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to the maintenance and development of quality standards within education
