Job description
Administration Officer for Berriew School (21 hours/week)
The governors of Berriew Community Primary School, wish to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Administration Officer in this friendly, supportive, and aspirational school. The Administration Officer will be accountable to the Headteacher and governors of the school. The job entails dealing with parents, staff, pupils, governors and outside agencies and they will be the first point of call and the face of the school.

The successful candidate will have:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Administrative skills to support the management of school finances.
  • Accounting experience desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Application including word and Excell.
  • Excellent organisational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to plan and work on own initiative along with the ability to work as part of the school team.
  • Familiarity with GDPR
  • Have a good sense of humour and be approachable.
In addition, the admin officer would be asked to take on the role of clerk to the governing body. The successful candidate will be responsible for advising the Governing Body on constitutional matters, duties and powers and will work within the broad current legislative framework. You will secure the continuity of Governing Body business and observe confidentiality requirements. A key part of the role is to help prepare and circulate agendas for Governing Body meetings, take notes at the meetings and prepare and circulate the minutes.

Typically, there are 6 Governing Body meetings each year and these are held during the evenings during term time, although other meetings may be required on an ad-hoc basis.  The successful applicant is able to prepare work at home.

Pay will be on an hourly rate and will vary due to the different meetings over the year and include time to write up the minutes for the next meeting.

Due to this dual post having access to children and/or vulnerable adults, candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
