An exciting opportunity is available for a new Youth Service Manager to join the Council, to lead and manage Blaenau Gwent's Youth Service (BGYS), in line with the Youth Work in Wales Principles and Purposes.
BGYS provides a universal youth work offer for young people aged 11-25 across the borough, through a range of open access and targeted approaches in the community, in schools and other learning settings. The service sits within the Young People and Partnerships service area in the Education Directorate although the work spans across a variety of areas both within and external to the Council.
We are seeking an exceptional leader who has a passion for Youth Work, with significant youth work experience at a leadership, management and operational level. BGYS is well regarded and you will be expected to build on this, with the ability to see the bigger picture, working collaboratively with key partners to maximise the resources available for young people, and ensuring young people are involved in decisions.

Essential to the role is a relevant professional qualification in Youth Work and the ability to register as a 'Youth Worker' with the EWC (Wales).
If you have studied Youth Work as part of a qualification that would allow you to be registered as a 'Youth Worker' with the EWC and it is not clearly identified in the qualifications title, please state in your application what was undertaken and to what level.
Thorough pre-employment screening is undertaken during the recruitment process. The postholder will be required to complete an application for a Disclosure of Criminal Records.
