Overall job purpose
Overall Job Purpose:
• To provide pastoral support for students across a key stage, working with Assistant Headteacher responsible for the pastoral team and Inclusion Manager.
• To work with tutors, senior staff and support staff to ensure that students are successful, confident and happy.
• To ensure that students follow the school's high expectations, both in and out of the classroom.
• To participate in the transition processes and procedures from both key stages and year groups.
• To establish and maintain positive relationships with parents.
• To work closely with the pastoral team to ensure that the educational, emotional and social needs of students, particularly disadvantaged and vulnerable students are met.
• To make sure that students' experiences reflect our ambition for a happy, purposeful school where all students are active participants in their own learning.
• To support the programme of assemblies for the year group and contribute to PSHE activities.
• Under the guidance of the Key stage Coordinator support the academic progress and ensure that effective educational/pastoral interventions are put in place to enable all students to be successful.
• To contribute to Student Voice and ensure that the year group is well represented.
• To attend designated safeguarding training and be part of the safeguarding team.
• To maintain discipline in accordance with the school's procedures and to encourage good practice with regards to attendance, punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and independent study.
• To play a full part in the life of the school community, to support its distinctive aims and ethos and to encourage staff and students to follow this example.
• With the Designated Safeguarding lead to be responsible for safeguarding children and child protection (including online safety) ensuring that the school is meeting its legal statutory requirements as laid out in the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
• To be responsible for liaising with local statutory children's services and agencies and with the key local Safeguarding partners. Taking part in discussions and inter agency meetings to contribute to the assessment of children.
• To manage internal and external referrals.
• To provide support, advice, and guidance to other staff on child welfare, safeguarding and child protection matters.
• To receive Level 2 and 3 training and update it every two years
