English Language Tutor

Cardiff Metropolitan University
The English Language Training Centre (ELTC) provides English language and study skills teaching to international students, preparing them for progression in Cardiff Metropolitan University and other UK HEIs.
We are looking for a part time tutor (0.5fte) on a fixed term contract to 15 September 2024 to support the varied work in the Centre.
You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience.
You will be comfortable with face-to-face and online delivery in virtual classrooms.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
What we are looking for
• Awareness of cultural issues facing international students studying in the UK
• Knowledge and understanding of equality and diversity issues
• Familiarity with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and IELTS standards and requirements
• Knowledge of the study conventions of higher education in the UK
• Working knowledge of common Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Powerpoint
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organisational and time management skills, a high level of attention to detail and initiative
• The ability to work well as an individual or part of a team
• The ability to adhere to internal and external regulations in terms of Quality Assurance and requirements of external agencies
• Experience of working with people whose first language is not English
• Teaching experience including the preparation and delivery of high quality teaching materials, teaching classes of varying sizes and levels, demonstrating differentiate learning and teaching methods – face to face and online
• Flexibility and the ability to work cross-site
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent
• Qualification in Teaching English as a Foreign Language or relevant experience
