Teaching Assistant – Maths Intervention

Grade 5 £26,421 - £28,770 pro rata, 12 month fixed term maternity cover, commencing 22nd April 2024

We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and well qualified individual to become a key member of our school team. The role will involve working under the guidance of teaching staff and the school Numeracy Coordinator to plan and deliver numeracy acceleration programmes for year 7, 8 and 9.

You will work under guidance to provide support in addressing the needs of learners who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning.

The postholder will support statemented learners in Maths lessons, plan and deliver TAB (a nurture programme) in Maths for the Learning Support team and provide administrative support for the Maths team.

You will support identified learners across all year groups for intervention sessions during morning registration and organise equipment for internal and external examinations, as directed by the Maths team.

The postholder will support individuals and groups of learners enabling them to access their learning and assist the teacher in the management of learners within the classroom and beyond. You will occasionally supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of the teacher.

Candidates will have NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or an equivalent qualification. Patience, understanding, a caring attitude and the ability to provide support and build positive relationships is essential in this role.

You will be a team player who is able to organise and plan their own time with initiative. If you are motivated by how children learn and are able to inspire our younger children then we look forward to hearing from you.     

Holidays must be taken during school closure periods.

The appointment process will involve an interview with members of the school leadership team and a selection of Governors.

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS).
