Diversity and Anti-Racist Professional Learning (DARPL), a recent Times Higher Education Award-Winning Project and national professional learning model comprising anti-racist professional learning provisions and resources for education professionals, was founded as a Community of Practice (CoP) in 2021, funded by the Welsh Government and established at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Team DARPL has made remarkable progress steering and supporting leaders across the Welsh Education system and the Childcare and Playwork workforce in Wales with outstanding contributions to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion by winning a Times Higher Education Award in 2023.
DARPL lead in critical and supporting professional learning to bring deep societal change and systemic reform by impacting anti-racist leadership across the entire Education system in Wales.
DARPL’s superb, dynamic, and diverse Community of Practice draws on our lived and professional experience to impact Wales, the UK and internationally. By co-constructing anti-racist culture through professional learning, we inspire and enable leaders to enrich and safeguard children and young people across Wales; and to develop ambitious, capable learners as healthy, confident individuals; enterprising, creative contributors; and culturally conscious, ethical, informed citizens.
DARPL brings together a diverse team of providers with lived and professional experience through a professional learning and resource hub with a Welsh perspective in raising multi-disciplinary racial consciousness, as we all work together within the New Curriculum for Wales.
