About us

Education Training Standards (ETS) Wales is the Professional Statutory or Regulatory Body (PSRB) for youth work in Wales. ETS Wales conducts professional endorsement which quality assures Youth Work training on behalf of the Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) for England and Wales. This ensures that programmes of training for youth workers are of a suitably high quality, relevant to the needs of employers, youth workers themselves and the young people they work with.

The JNC negotiates salaries and terms and conditions for youth workers and sets the qualification levels.  A JNC youth work qualification is recognised across the UK and Ireland.

Professional Learning

Professional Learning (formerly known as CPD) is learning at all levels that takes place throughout your career. It is essential for staying current with best practices, enhancing skills, and fostering personal and career growth. To best meet the needs of young people within our communities, it is good practice to ensure learning remains to be a continual process, whereby youth workers keep up to date with the latest trends young people are faced with. Professional learning can be accredited, leading to a qualification, or non-accredited and is delivered using a variety of methods.
