WHAT IS A SUPPLY TEACHER?

As supply teachers, we enable learning within schools in Wales to continue every single day, covering for staff absences on a day-to-day or long-term basis to ensure they don’t negatively impact on learner progress and outcomes.

We are a diverse mix of qualified teaching professionals; NQTs and career-changers, skilled teachers and semi-retired professionals. No matter our background or experience, we are always ready to step in and continue the learning programmes throughout the day, the month or even the entire year.

The unpredictable nature of our job means in one week, we could be leading five different classes or be placed in five different schools. In one day, we could be teaching a single subject or covering a wide range of subjects and year groups.

This means we are always adaptable, open to change and able to quickly build rapport with learners to deliver high quality lessons that educate, enthuse and inspire.

THE QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL NEED

In order to qualify as a teacher, it is necessary to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through Initial Teacher Education (ITE) and successfully complete induction. There are several ITE routes in Wales.
