SUPPLY STAFF MEMBERS ARE ESSENTIAL TO EDUCATION IN WALES
We enable schools in Wales to continue to deliver quality lessons every single day, often at short notice.
As supply staff, we cover for school staff when they are absent from school and provide continuity for learners. So, if a teacher goes on a training course, is absent due to sickness, off work on maternity or paternity leave, we step in to ensure learning continues.
Supply staff carry out a whole range of teaching and learning support roles in primary schools, secondary schools, post-compulsory settings, special schools, and pupil referral units (PRUs) across Wales. The sector is diverse and people choose to work on a supply basis for a whole range of reasons. We love the flexibility working supply offers as well as the opportunities to work in a variety of settings and gain a range of experience.
SUPPLY TEACHERS
We are qualified teaching professionals who provide cover for contractually employed teachers on a day-to-day and long-term basis. That means that one week we could work in five different schools or we’re covering a long-term absence such as a maternity position. We ensure that staff absence does not negatively impact learner progress or outcomes.
SUPPLY LEARNING SUPPORT WORKERS
Supply Learning Support Workers are critical to providing continuity to pupils and we are often requested for long-term positions. We work with pupils on a one-to-one basis, in small groups, or work with teachers to support whole classes. We work in mainstream or additional learning needs (ALN) classes depending on our preferences and qualifications.
EMPLOYERS OF SUPPLY STAFF
Supply staff in Wales are employed by education recruitment agencies, schools directly and by local authorities. The National Procurement Service and Welsh Government encourage schools in Wales to use agencies appointed to the National Procurement Service framework agreement.
