A unique opportunity for a qualified Mathematics or Science teacher to continue delivering within their specialist area up to GCSE level, but within the largest school in the UK catering for learners with additional learning needs.

Ysgol Y Deri is a local authority day special school maintained by the Vale of Glamorgan local authority. Currently there are over 500 pupils on roll aged between 3 and 19 years. All pupils have Individual Development Plans for additional learning needs.

Ysgol Y Deri are looking to recruit a dynamic and energising Mathematics and/or Science teacher to join our amazing team. School should be unmissable and audacious, and it is our responsibility to ensure that happens.

At an exciting time in Welsh Education, this is a unique opportunity for an exceptional candidate to be part of an evolving curriculum for learners within a setting for learners that have additional learning needs. Crucially, the candidate should be able to transmit an enthusiasm and confidence for Mathematics and/or Science (preferably both) as they will work predominantly with our more able cohorts delivering subject specific content at E3, L1 and GCSE level.

About the Role
Pay Details: Teachers Mainscale +SEN allowance £2,585 - £5,098

Days / Hours per Week: Full Time (Monday- Friday 8.30pm - 3.30pm)

Description:

This is an excellent and unique opportunity for secondary trained high-quality teachers who already have the skills to adapt their teaching, someone who is prepared and excited to take on something completely different. The successful candidates will be given the support but also freedom to design an engaging curriculum.

Whilst a background in additional needs is not essential (it is desirable), a strong understanding of the curriculum, how it might be adapted and how it can be developed to enthuse all learners will be high on the list of requirements.

The successful candidate will have excellent classroom practice, including use of ICT, high expectations of pupil engagement and achievements and a willingness to work as part of a dedicated team that is committed to providing the very best opportunities for all our pupils.

We offer specialist training and development from our therapy teams in areas such as communication, emotional regulation, attachment & trauma and Positive Behaviour Support.

You will be required to have an enhanced and barred DBS for both Child and Adult and
be registered with EWC.
