Job Purpose

The Construction Department at Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor is a forward-thinking department offering courses across a range of construction disciplines. Teaching and learning take place with access to industry-standard equipment and within modern facilities. The department operates across two sites: Hafan (Pwllheli) and CaMDA (Dolgellau), with Construction provision based at CaMDA (Dolgellau).

We are seeking a permanent, full-time member of staff to join the College's Construction Department. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed individual with experience in the Construction and Building Services Engineering sector, specifically in Plumbing and Heating.

The department delivers a wide range of provision including full-time courses, part-time courses, apprenticeships and the 14-16 curriculum. We currently have a strong team of Construction lecturers in areas such as plastering, bricklaying, carpentry and general construction, alongside practical skills instructors in areas including plumbing, bricklaying, carpentry and plastering, as well as staff who work specifically with the apprenticeship provision. We are seeking a member of staff who will complement this team and contribute to the continued development of the department.

The role of the Plumbing Lecturer will involve delivering high-quality bilingual education to learners across a range of qualifications and levels, including Level 2 and Level 3, on full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes. The role will include delivering theoretical sessions in the classroom, delivering practical sessions in the workshop when required, and providing ongoing tutorial support to ensure learners succeed.

A strong link with the 14-16 provision is essential, with the successful candidate expected to contribute to the delivery of high-quality education from 14-16 through to further education and work-based learning. The successful candidate will also be expected to take a proactive role in leading and developing the Plumbing courses, ensuring that learners remain at the centre of everything we do.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high standards of teaching and learning and provide ongoing support, advice and guidance that promotes learner success. We are keen to work with you to develop your professional skills in order to provide the best possible experience for learners and to support the continued development of the department.

Key expectations of the role:

1. To provide high quality teaching, to create effective opportunities for learning and to enable all

learners to achieve to the best of their ability.

2. Provide excellent extracurricular experiences for our learners.

3. Maintain the high standards of the provision with the support given to the learners.
