Lecturer in Landbased Industries 0.5

Grwp Llandrillo Menai

Salary: £16,797 - £25,965 per annum, dependent on qualifications and experience

The Agriculture department is located at Glynllifon. Students study full-time level 2 and 3 courses with the possibility of completing an apprenticeship at the same levels with suitable employers. Some students attend Glynllifon following a 14-19 consortium provision, these study a level 2 course in Agriculture and will attend ½ day per week for 2 years. Students enter the world of work with employers who produce food in the agricultural industry, provide and sell equipment or offer services to the agricultural industry. A high percentage of students come from an agricultural background and often go on to work on family farms. Many students progress to university where they study at a higher level by completing a degree.

The Landbased Industries Lecturer will be a course leader with pastoral responsibility for students' and ensuring relevant quality standards are met as specified by the qualification awarding body.

The curriculum is set by the qualification awarding body. The lecturer will be required to develop relevant sessions to ensure students have a good learning experience and that unit objectives are transferred effectively. Students will receive practical instruction during the course and these will need to be coordinated with the relevant instructors to reinforce understanding of the classroom sessions.

The agricultural industry in the college's catchment area tends to be quite mixed. The department therefore trains students in various aspects to do with the agricultural industry including dairy herd, sheep, beef cattle, pigs and land management. The successful candidate will be expected to be able to contribute to the delivery of other curriculum areas, mainly Agricultural Engineering.

A Landbased Studies Lecturer is broadly required to provide high quality learning, create effective learning opportunities and enable all students to achieve their full potential.
