Qualified Teacher for pupils with Visual Impairment/ Athro Cymwysedig ar gyfer disgyblion

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council
To support the School Improvement and Inclusion Learning Service in the effective delivery of specialist support for schools and pupils in line with service policies, procedures and priorities.

1. To work with the Head of ALN and Inclusion, ALN Manager and ALN Team Leader to develop and deliver support services for children and young people with visual impairment.

2. To take specialist teacher responsibility in the area of visual impairment for a caseload of children and young people with significant needs. This will involve the assessment and early identification of needs; developing and monitoring school-based interventions; participation in school based and multi-disciplinary reviews; liaison between pupils, home, school and relevant agencies; and report writing.

3. To provide specialist teaching for identified pupils to enable them to access the curriculum and raise standards.

4. To devise, implement and monitor a Specialist Intervention Plan (SIP), to provide copies to the line manager and review in line with ALN and Inclusion monitoring policy.

5. To provide information, support and guidance to parents and carers on all aspects of supporting children and young people with visual impairment, helping to contribute and organise support by liaison with the different agencies and professionals and providing information and explanations as required to ensure that parents/carers are able to meet the needs of their children.
