About us
The role is part of the Vale of Glamorgan, ALN Service, within the Vale of Glamorgan's Wellbeing and ALN Directorate. You will be required to lead and manage Outreach across the Vale of Glamorgan and develop the provision within the Resource Bases across the Vale of Glamorgan. You would develop and lead the strategic approach to outreach and resource base provision across the Vale of Glamorgan with pupils from birth to 25. You would be part of small but energetic and supportive team who are passionate about supporting pupils with ALN.

About the role
Pay Details: Leadership Scale: Point 6 to point 9: £51,000 to £54,918.
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hrs, 5 days per week, temporary.
Main Place of Work: Work would be based in the Civic Offices but extend across the Vale
of Glamorgan.

The role requires the successful candidate to ensure that specialist provision, teachers and outreach is able to meet the needs of pupils with ALN. To develop consistent monitoring systems, tracking progress and achievement of pupils with ALN placed in specialist provision and outreach. The role requires the development of specialist staff, supporting recruitment, training and ensuring they are appropriately deployed, monitoring quality of work to ensure high quality support is provided to learners. The role requires development of the promotion of collaboration and communication within the ALN community, ensuring pupils and parents views are considered when developing specialist support and ALN processes and provision. Develop good systems of communications with parents, carers and pupils, including social media, consistently across settings.

The role will require, further consideration of ALN specialist services in preschool and post 16 ALN pupils ALN is recognized and supported appropriately, additionally to consider and develop transition arrangements. The successful candidate will be required to work with the Lead Officer for additional learning needs to commission and deliver high quality provision in schools and other settings developing accurate analysis of future need, drafting SLAs and maintaining quality assurance frameworks. Promote, develop and organize dispute resolution systems within provisions, and other settings and support LA arrangements. Monitor and further develop IDP systems for specialist provisions, including quality assurance of school/ provision and LA IDPs.

About you
You will need:

The successful candidate will, have extensive knowledge and experience of working with pupils of different ages with ALN and health needs, including, identification, sharing strategies and working in a specialist provision, including working with staff and families. Knowledge and experience of relevant ALN and disability legislation including the new ALNET Act 2018. You will need experience and knowledge of working in a PCP way and writing and developing IDPs The candidate will be a good leader and problem solver, good organisation and planning skills with experience of managing staff and working with different teams, Multi discipline teams and wider agencies. Experience of dispute resolution with staff and parents with strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills. The candidate should have the ability to work across settings and the ability to anticipate future service needs and plan to manage resources accordingly.
