Wales is a bilingual country, with over 900,000 Welsh speakers. As such, the choice to work through the medium of Welsh should be accessible to all.

If you are looking to work in the sector and would like to work in the medium of Welsh, there is lots of support available to help you.

Cymraeg 2050

The Welsh Government has set an ambitious target of one million Welsh speakers by the year 2050.  Cymraeg 2050 is the Welsh Government’s new Welsh Language Strategy and sets out how the government aims to fulfil this ambition.

Within the post-16 education sector, the strategy’s primary focus is to foster progress and empower individuals of all abilities to cultivate Welsh language skills, both personally and professionally. This means we need more teachers and assessors able and willing to teach and assess through the medium of Welsh.
Regardless of your current proficiency level, whether you're a fluent Welsh speaker, a language learner seeking to bolster your confidence, or simply curious about learning, there are tailored courses and support programs to suit your needs.

Coleg Cenedlaethol, Sgiliaith, and Learn Welsh offer a diverse range of resources, catering to learners at every stage of their Welsh language journey.
